Key features and benefits of V-Tork Actuated 2 Piece WRAS Approved Ball Valves.
1

Key Features

The V-Tork Actuated Ball Valves are WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approved, certifying that they meet the stringent requirements for use in potable water systems in the UK. This approval guarantees that the materials and components used in the valves do not contaminate the water supply and are safe for use in drinking water applications.

Integrate and streamline your design with our compact actuator models, which use the same body and end caps for both double-acting and spring-return mechanisms. This uniformity minimises spare parts inventory, enhancing convenience for customer applications in the field. You can easily modify these actuators by adding or removing spring cartridges, making them highly adaptable and user-friendly.
Our products meet the latest international standards, including ISO 5211, DIN 3337, and VDI/VDE 3845, among others. They are also fully compliant with the NUMAR standard. This ensures easy interchangeability and convenience when replacing or mounting accessories like solenoid valves and limit switches.
Utilise a rack and pinion system with double pistons to benefit from a compact design, extended operational life, and rapid functionality. The tooth surface of the piston, processed via a CNC machining centre, ensures enhanced gear efficiency and precise transmission. This leads to stable and dependable performance. Additionally, altering the rotation direction is straightforward—simply reverse the pistons, thanks to the design’s symmetrical mounting capability.
Dual independent travel stoppers allow for precise and convenient external adjustments of ±5° in two directions. This enables actuators to align with the valve during both the opening and closing phases of the stroke.
Composite bearings and guides in both the pinion and piston guarantee precise functionality, minimal friction, and extended durability. This design effectively safeguards the output shaft against fractures.
The specialised sealing ring positioned between the body and cylinder prevents initial failure due to the suction of the rubber plug. This feature enhances safety, ensures a leak-proof seal, and extends the product's lifespan.
The rack and pinion tooth is engineered with a superior tooth profile ratio for minimal clearance, ensuring precise driving and enhanced output power. This high-precision design delivers reliable performance and efficient power transmission.
The body of the extruded aluminium is treated to resist corrosion both inside and out. A finely ground cylinder surface results in a low coefficient of friction and extends the product's cycle life significantly.
Preload spring cartridges featuring a specialised coating are suitable for numerous applications, offering enhanced security and resistance to corrosion. These modular units are designed to function effectively in various environments, ensuring reliability and long-lasting performance.
High-quality bearings feature reliable seals, low friction, extended service life, and a broad application temperature range.

Frequent Interrogation

WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) approval means the valves meet regulatory standards for use in potable water systems in the UK. WRAS tests for materials, construction and performance.

Common materials are dezincification resistant brass or stainless steel. WRAS has requirements for leachable lead and other substances that could contaminate drinking water.

2-piece valves have the body and ball as one part, with the stem as the second part. This makes them more compact but non-serviceable. 3-piece valves can be disassembled for servicing.

Typical end connections are copper tube connectors, compression fittings and push-fit connectors. Threaded BSP or NPT connections are also sometimes used.

Common handles are cross type lever handles, tee handles and round knobs. Locking handles are also available to prevent tampering. Extended handles allow ease of operation in tight spaces.

Most 2-piece WRAS approved valves have pressure ratings of up to 400 psi (27 bar) and temperatures up to 230°F (110°C), with some high pressure models rated beyond this. Always confirm ratings for your application.

Many have full or near full-port openings to minimise flow restriction. Actual flow depends on valve size - 1/2” to 2" are common sizes for plumbing uses.

Typical applications are water supply lines, sinks, toilets, water heaters, washing machines, dishwashers and other household water control.

No special maintenance is required, just periodic inspection for leaks and smooth operation. Replacement is needed if a valve fails.

Most come with manufacturer warranties from 3-10 years depending on materials and brand. Some offer extended warranties against leaking.
