Side located stops on the actuator allow a full ± 5o travel adjustment between 85o and 95o. These travel stops are designed to absorb the maximum rated torque of the actuator and the maximum impact loads associated with recommended travel speed. The quarter turn action offers quick opening or closing with ease of operation and the valve has good flow control characteristics. In the wide open position, the only obstruction to flow is that due to the thickness of the disk, so the pressure drop across the valve is small. These types of valves can have several key advantages over that of manual types which can include the synchronisation of multiple line valves, remote isolation, torque required for the opening of larger butterfly valves.
